Trimble's Knob, one of two extinct volcanoes in Virginia, is just south of Monterey.

See Highland County is now two months old! We'd like to know how we're doing, but posting to the internet is akin to autumn leaves scattered by the wind: you never know where they'll end up. So far, we really have no idea how many people are checking in each week for the next new photo post. Please let us know if you're out there! Become a blog follower, leave a comment below, or send an email to sweetrunfarm@yahoo.com with the subject line "See Highland County" and tell us what you think of our photo blog. Do you want us to continue? Have you shared the blog with anyone else? Do you have suggestions to improve the blog?  We can't wait to hear from you!

  1. I was very curious to see this place after you mentioned it on your Aunt's 100th birthday post. How fun to have an extinct volcano on one's property and thank goodness, it is...extinct that is.

  2. A hill so seemingly innocuous conceals such ancient geologic volatility! Puts so much in perspective to contemplate Virginia's vast natural history.
